ABLAIZE - CATCH ON FIRE (2001)
Let me be honest.. I picked this CD up for two reasons: When I looked on the back of the cover it had two names I recognized. Lucinda Moore (lead vocals on Made 2 Love U), a young lady from Connecticut who I've met in person that can sing her face off and Charles Woolfork (producer of the project) a brotha who's career I've followed since his first project dropped on Benson in 1995. Well.. these four young ladies are throwin down from beginning to end. The CD starts off with the hot track Catch on Fire and that basically sets the tone for the rest of the CD. The beats are here, and the vocals are definitely are. You get to hear each of the girls showcase their vocal skills. My favorite cuts on this CD are: Catch On Fire, What Is This, Ain't Gonna Be That Way, King of Glory and Everything Belongs To Him

YOLANDA ADAMS - BELIEVE (2001)
Does this lady ever get tired? From TV shows, tours, to preaching engagements.. Yolanda Adams does it all! One thing for sure, she has put out another great CD. Where do we begin? Let's start with Never Give Up. With all that has happened in recent months.. this song is a great source of encouragement to keep going in spite of it all. Fo' Sho features Karen Clark Sheard. It's a pretty laid back track to have two sangin sistas on it but it's cool. You'll like it. Thank You is the "In The Midst of It All" from the last CD. Yolanda takes it church on the drive of the song. I'm Thankful is the bouncin joint that will have everybody rollin their windows down with the volume up real loud. Darling Girl is a sweet tribute to her baby girl! Aww aint dat so tweet! (yes tweet! LOL) Great Project!! Pick it up.

YOLANDA ADAMS - THE EXPERIENCE (2001)
PICK HITS: I Believe I Can Fly, Already Alright, What About The Children, Open My Heart
I'm not a Yolanda Adams fan but this album is kinda tight! I'm not sure I would have released it right on the heels of a successful Christmas release and Mountain High, Valley Low but I guess the folks over at Elektra know what they're doing. Yolanda is doin a pretty piece of sangin.. especially while she was at least 6 months pregnant during the recording and on the Sisters In The Spirit Tour. This live album plus one studio cut featuring Gerald Levert on R. Kelly's I Believe I Can Fly will push Yolanda further up the Billboard charts. ADDITIONAL PICK HITS: In The Midst of It All

ALASKA MASS CHOIR - RIGHT NOW GOD (2001)
PICK HITS: Right Now God, Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus, Joy, Great Joy, Jehovah Jireh
As slow as GospoCentric is.. aint no tellin when we'll get to hear Dorinda's solo project.. they should have just titled this project the Dorinda Clark-Cole project because she's all over the CD! :c) Clark Sisters Fans will love this CD because it shows Dorinda doin what she does best.. FLAT OUT SANGIN!! The only thing that I found funny was the reprise of Right Now God when she's teachin parts and they took their time gettin it! Let me just add that the Alaska Mass Choir is not to be slept on either! (The last 3 tracks feature them by themselves) Them churren are sangin! ADDITIONAL PICK HITS: Christian Race

RANCE ALLEN GROUP - THE LIVE EXPERIENCE [2004 Article / Read More]
When you hear Contemporary Gospel music today you are venturing a boulevard paved by the "Fathers of Contemporary Gospel", the Rance Allen Group. Gospel singer Rance Allen founded the Rance Allen Group in Detroit in the 1960s and has fronted the band with his soulful, soaring vocals ever since. This Detroit-based traditionally trained black gospel group was the first traditional group to incorporate rock, jazz, and soul into their music. They were harbingers for the contemporary Christian music movement popularized in the late '70s by Andrae Crouch, Amy Grant and the Winans.

GAYE ARBUCKLE - THINK ABOUT IT (2002)
I first heard about Gaye Arbuckle back in the late 90's on her project Miracles and Blessings. She's back with a new 14 track project entitled Think About It. Please know that when you look back on 2002..that this will be one of the hottest projects released! I'm not the best writer so I'm not sure if you'll understand what I'm tryin to say.. but the lady just works her range. She flat out sings! This was refreshing to me because now you have everybody tryin to do riffs and runnin all over the place it makes you want to tell them stand still and just sing. LOL! My favorite songs on this disc include: I'm Gonna Make It - One of those songs about Heaven, Time Factor - Most people won't like the song because the production is kinda busy but I think it's off the heezy. Yesterday - Tomorrow is not promised.. Do it today! Show Me: Lord please show me what you want me to do..Yessuh! The two songs featured here on the site are favorites as well.. Think About It, and Miracles and Blessings. The disc closes with the mellow Always Remember.

VANESSA BELL ARMSTRONG - A BRAND NEW DAY (2001)
It's good to see Vanessa back on the scene with her new 14 track set. I'm still tryin to figure how a certain label drops a founding member of their label when there are other acts on the label that (in my opinion) should have been dropped. But I'm not tryin to start anything. LOL If you're looking for the Secret Is Out, or Desire of My Heart.. you're not going to find it. The Haddon Brothers gave Vanessa a totally nu flava. The cuts to listen to are: Do What He Said (Motha Armstrong is sangin!), Somebody Prayed (regular and remix) is a tight lil song that could easily be fit into a Urban Radio station format. Make a Way is a serious head nodder. He's Real is a Rock n Roll meets Gospel type of jam. Holding On features Vanessa's daughter Melody (also featured on the Detrick Haddon Supernatural project). Promise is one of those feel good songs.. a great encouragement piece. Shall Not Be Moved is another head nodder. On my first listen I thought I wouldn't like this CD but it has grown on me. Good Job Vanessa and Deitrick! One mo thang.. Why they released Jesus I'll Never Forget as the first single, I'll neva understand.

Note: I'm almost ashamed to repost most of these reviews! This is what I've spent the last 8 years of my life doing. Still can't write worth a..., lol. Yikes. Have fun trying to make sense of what I was trying to say. ~Lou
