1. What is NuthinButGospel?
Hmm. Great question. If you would have asked me this 9 years ago, the answer probably would have been different. Right now though? *stares up at the sky while mumbling* NuthinButGospel is the brain child, *needle scratching off the record sound in my head* ok, ok, glorified hobby of one dude that listens to a lot of music, but LOVES Gospel music. Mainstream, Independent, Traditional, Contemporary (and yep, Hip Hop too) -- it's all here.

Years ago, and even today -- would see the media efforts of the secular community and said to myself -- hmm -- why can't the Gospel industry do that? Like Vibe, Source Magazine vs. Score/Gospel Industry Today (before it became Gospel Today, ugh [no offense] -- or Twelve, before they up and disappeared]. I wanted to see it done. An online Gospel magazine. Ahh (picture it, Sicily 1942)...

There were gospel sites around, asked to be apart -- they said no (wait, their exact words were, we already have all the people we need). Just like the Pastors of storefront churches in every city across the country (who got mad and started their own church): I took it upon myself to create something similar. Here we are 9 years later. Still can't write and STILL don't have any formal (tables, pictures and a halfway decent imagination) web design training (pick up a Web Design for Dummies book why don'tcha), but like Celie in the Color Purple, "I'm Still Here" (Dorinda wasn't the first to say it. Saddown). wow.

2. How do I submit an artist to NuthinButGospel?
You can't. I operate by a "don't call me, I'll call you policy." If you're on myspace, cdbaby or the internet period...I'll find you.

When scopin' out artists to feature, I look at the following:
- Your music: The production, message, and yes, the packaging. Please pay for a decent photo shoot and graphics designer.
- Bio: Please keep your bio updated. This one paragraph stuff is for the birds. Sit down and construct a thorough bio for your ministry.
- Official Website: Every artist should have a website and NO it shouldn't just be a myspace page. Keep it updated.
- Availability: If you're an independent artist, your music should at least be available on cdbaby and iTunes. In addition, your project shouldn't be priced any more than $12-13 -- with all of the options available to purchase music (Walmart, Circuit City & Best Buy, etc.), we're not paying $20 for your CD (by the time you add taxes and shipping). Also, Paypal is fine, but if you're going to wait 2-4 weeks to ship it, no thanks.

*Please note, someone submitted NuthinButGospel to the Indie Bible. That listing is incorrect.

3. How can I write for NuthinButGospel?
Been There. Done That. If a writer is supposed to write, you don't wait on someone to ask you to write. I can't be bothered.

4. How can I advertise on your site?
The last thing I want to do is go to a website and be inundated with ads and pop-ups. Other than the media center, NuthinButGospel will remain an ad free, pop-up free experience.

5. What type of revenue does NuthinButGospel generate?
[Expenses: Domain hosting/annual renewal, music, equipment/software/internet]
When users link to cdbaby from this site, I receive $1 for each CD purchased (525 CDs purchased through NuthinButGospel since 10/06 - you do the math). That's all! For 9 years (with the exception of our 2006 site drive [$1000+ raised! THANK YOU!], Thrift store sales and past advertising opportunities), this has been an out of pocket expense for the webmaster (oh, me). If you'd like to sow a "seed of thanks" (for all that you do) offering, you can use the nuthinbutgospel@yahoo.com email address and send a secure donation through paypal.com.

6. How much traffic does this site receive?
- Weekday - 700-900 users visit this site daily
- Weekend - 300-500 users
- Monthly Page Hits - 70,000+
- since April 2007 / current stats (270k users, 900k page hits)

7. Can I download the music on this site?
Any media on the net can be downloaded or ripped. Fact! I get that, however, NO, the music on this site isn't made available for you to download. It is streamed for promotion(al) purposes only. I provide links for you to purchase the music legally. Hopefully you'll do the right thing.

8. What's with your CD Reviews?
I'm not a writer. I do the best I can. Unfortunately, I'm no longer interested in writing long drawn out reviews. Still trying to come up with a new system. I'll continue to be as honest as I can possibly be...
