GERALD SCOTT & CO.
Gerald Scott is an American gospel singer and musician hailing from Washington, D.C. Like
many gospel artists, Scott began singing in church at a very young age. His keen ear and eye for
creating music was undoubtedly induced by his mother, aunts and cousins, all of whom are
singers and trained musicians.
Despite growing up in a house with a piano, Gerald didn't begin developing his gifts as an
organist until his teens when his pastor told him that he would play music. At the age of 17, with
no formal training, Gerald began walking in his gift as an organist, playing for notables around
the city. He was also named the house musician of his home church, playing for various groups
at weekly services.
Scott was an eager student and spent a lot of time under the tutelage of Dr. Joyce Garret and
Patrick Lundy, director and co-director, respectively, of D.C.'s award-winning Eastern High
School Choir. Gerald's unwavering determination and big dreams prompted both Dr. Garrett
and Lundy to invest a significant amount of time in him as a singer and musician. They
recognized his talent from the start and tasked him with composing his high school class's
official graduating song. The arrangement, his first ever, was performed at the historic
Constitution Hall – an amazing feat rarely accomplished by someone with so few years of
experience. Scott continued to minister through music with local community and church
choirs, also performing with gospel greats, like Daryl Coley, Kim Burrell, Vickie Winans, Donnie
McClurkin, Yolanda Adams and Isaiah D. Thomas, all while remaining faithful in serving at his
local church on a weekly basis.
Following years of singing background and playing for others, Scott stepped out on faith and
began a project of his own. In 2007, he formed "Gerald Scott & Co.", a gospel group of singers
comprised of his family and close friends. Since it's formation, Gerald Scott & Co. have released
two albums, INTRO (2008), which boasted top 40 radio hits "Great is the Lord" and "You Can't
Stop My Praise" featuring Stellar Award winner Isaiah D. Thomas; and Don't Let Go (2010),
which featured radio favorite and top 40 hit "Don't Let Go" and "Glad About It," an Internet
favorite. Since 2010, "Glad About It" has reached nearly 100,000 cumulative hits on YouTube, a
major feat for an independent artist, and has become a favorite amongst the likes of gospel artists
like Zacardi Cortez, who performed the song with Gerald and regularly performs it at his own
shows.
After making a name for himself as an independent artist, Gerald signed a major recording deal
with Habakkuk Music/Universal in early 2012. His third album, and national recording debut,
Incredible, will be released in July 2012, with the first single "Alright" already burning up the
radio charts.
God continues to open doors for the ministry of Gerald Scott. In addition to having the support
of many internationally known gospel artists, Gerald has worked with others like the legendary
Stevie Wonder, Patti Labelle, Stephanie Mills and Trace Adkins. He is currently touring around
the nation. By keeping a steadfast faith and constantly honoring his commitment to uplifting the
Kingdom of Heaven, he is sure to have success beyond his wildest dreams.
