THE A&M GOSPEL CHOIR
Nestled in the foothills of the Tennessee Valley, the A&M Gospel Choir is a unique blend of multi-talented singers from Huntsville, AL .  Under the direction of Michael G. Marshall, the approximate seventy-five-member choir has members who hail from across the United States. Their splendid vocal arrangements have created a melting pot of unique blends, tones, and gospel music interpretation next to none.

"Service is Sovereignty" is a common phrase to all who reside and frequent Alabama A&M University, affectionately known as "The Hill". This motto serves as a major reminder to its students that they should have a sense of responsibility and servitude to others. The choir strongly believes in that motto. Simply from reading the biographies of University Presidents past and present leads one to glean that there is an importance not just for service, but for the recognition of the Sovereign One in the lives of the students on the campus of Alabama A&M University. It is with this motto in mind that the A&M Gospel choir was reformed in 2002 and continues to function as a vital student-based organization. With years of experience and talent in the collegiate gospel music arena, Michael G. Marshall ignited a new-found flavor among the students and local community with his arrangements and vocal tutelage in anthems, spirituals, contemporary and traditional gospel music.

This choir was also formed out of a need for motivation and inspiration for the students of "the hill". The choir is motivated to move forward with the vision of "Transforming Music into Ministry". This is the choir's sole slogan and illustrates their belief that their music should embody more than melodic words, but it should encourage, inspire, and motivate those who receive their ministry.

The A&M Gospel Choir has opened for Stellar award-winning gospel artist Kim Burrell. The choir also provided back up on a recent recording with Karen Wheaton. They were also a featured guest with Elder Jamel Strong and Message's Triple M Conference, "Praiz N Da Houz 6" in Birmingham, Alabama with vocal extraordinaire Prince Yelder and the Disciples for Christ, and were participants in the "City Stages" music festival. This dynamic choir has also shared stages with national recording artists: Smokie Norful, Lecretia Campbell, and Eddie James – just to name a few. Their travels extend across the breadth and width of this country as well as international venues.

The mission of the A&M Gospel Choir is to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ amongst believers as good will ambassadors of the university at various civic, community and campus wide functions. The A&M Gospel choir has recently taken their music ministry to the next level by recording their debut CD featuring some of the area's and school's finest.
