CANTON JONES
There is blessed. And there is truly blessed. Sometimes the difference between the two is as subtle as God's favor. More often than not, it's what separates those simply anointed with the Holy Spirit from those truly called to change the world. Enter Canton Jones.

Defining a new genre of music, Arrow recording artist Canton "CJ" Jones is by far, one of the most versatile vocalists of our time. Self-styled with remnants of urban, contemporary, traditional gospel and "old school" flavor, Jones is fast becoming the rhythm & praise megaforce for a new generation! A high-spirited, non-traditional hip-hop artist with strong stage presence and genuine compassion for young people, Canton's music is thought provoking, his concerts are life changing - and both deliver a surge of excitement with every performance!

Hailing from Deerfield Beach, Florida, "CJ" was introduced to music very early. The product of a music-inspired family, by age 5 he was already singing with a local quartet founded by his father. At age 16, he was producing his own tracks and those of other local artists. By the time Canton graduated high school, it was clear that his steps were being ordered. He relocated to Atlanta to attend Morehouse College and began singing with the school's world-renown glee club. This experience became the launching pad for a promising career and a wide range of opportunities.

As a member of the Morehouse Glee Club, "CJ" was a featured performer in the opening ceremonies of the 1996 Olympic games. He also sang in the first Gospel concert held at the U.S. Pentagon, toured Russia, Poland, Africa and Denmark and performed for the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, Billy Taylor, Dr. Bobby Jones, Fred Hammond, Kurt Carr, Mary Mary, and the late Ray Charles. Motivated by these opportunities, Canton accepted God's plan for his life, and with the support of family and friends he recorded his first album.

Following the grassroots success of 20 Yrs. 3 Mths. & 12 Days - an independent release that chronicles his path to salvation - Jones was signed to Arrow Records. This set the stage for his critically acclaimed national debut, The Password; paved the way for two Grammy nominations in 2005, and literally fast-forwarded a movement of Christian rap artists with the passion, drive and lyrical skills to change the hip-hop game forever.

And Jones stands quietly poised at the forefront. His talent is undeniable: his anointing unmistakable. In fact, CJ's unwavering humility to God is perhaps the only thing that might take you by surprise. Beyond that, there is little difference between him and the industry's most popular rap artists. He rocks Sean John, Rocawear and Air Force Ones, pushes a black drop-top Benz on 24s, and can get a party crunk without breaking a sweat. But he does. And he has thousands of fans across the country to prove it.

With his newest offering, love jones, "CJ" keeps it crunk with bouncy chords, tightly wrapped party tracks, and heavy bass beats that lay testament to his southern Florida roots. Best known for situational lyrics relating to everyday life, one might not have guessed the album was named after his baby daughter, born to "CJ" and wife Ramona nearly a year ago.

On the album Jones delivers positive messages of love, hope and inspiration, particularly for today's troubled youth. On "Shake It," he superbly laces tight conga riffs and an acoustic flute over a popular childhood track, the Hokie Pokey song. Then he speeds up the pace with help from Christian rappers, Redd and Esso, on "It's Your Birthday" - enticing listeners with a frantic blend of hip-hop, rap and R&P. "Fix It" shows yet another side of Canton, as this multi-talented artist teams up with his father for a contemporary twist on the foot-stomping classic of the same name. And just when you're moving along at full speed, "CJ" flips the script altogether on "In The Spirit," a track rife with melodic vocals and lush harmonies that quietly get under your skin and nearly move you to tears.

Canton Jones is a prophet sent to change the world. This powerhouse of raw talent is part singer, songwriter, producer and vocal arranger - with unlimited range and repertoire. Add a flourishing fan club and massive 'hood appeal, and Jones is ready to take the Gospel to the streets!
