DESMOND PRINGLE
Desmond Pringle's golden tenor can be heard on some of the finest recordings of the last decade. That's him backing up R. Kelly on "I Believe I Can Fly." That's Dez wailing behind Yolanda Adams on her 1996 "Live in Washington" album. That's him again on Marvin Sapp's breakthrough single "Not the Time, Not the Place" in 1997. He was also pulling up the rear on the debut CD of Kristy Starling from NBC's Today Show talent contest. However, Pringle's fame isn't just in the background. Aside from several hit singles such as "With Arms Wide Open" as a soloist for Tommy Boy Records, Pringle has recently shared duets on new albums by Shirley Caesar and Bishop Paul Morton while creating a new platform talent for his vast talents as the A&R Director for Warner Christian Music's Urban Music Department.

A home-grown church boy, Pringle was born and reared in Charleston, South Carolina. "I was christened in the Reformed Episcopal church," Pringle recalls. "Then, my family started attending a Pentecostal church and when I was sixteen, I began to play keyboards for a non-denominational church." After high school graduation, Pringle enrolled as a marketing major at Winthrop University in Rockhill, SC. However, he left when he won the role of Clarence in the national touring company of the gospel musical, "A Good Man is Hard to Find" in 1992. The success of the play brought Pringle starring roles in other stage musicals such as "Only The Strong", "Paint The White House Black" and his first recording contract with a major record label, A&M Records.

By 1993, Pringle had moved to Chicago which has a very active and progressive gospel music community. In that creative atmosphere, Pringle began to write songs for Bishop T. D. Jakes, Rev. Clay Evans and others. When he wasn't writing hit songs, Pringle was singing background vocals on them. During that period, he backed R. Kelly, Twinkie Clark and Marvin Sapp among others. In 1999 he didn't wait to be offered a recording contract. He produced and financed his own CD project, "Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs" which created a foundation for him at gospel radio and opened up an array of opportunities for the psalmist to minister at churches nationwide.

However, it was not long after when Tommy Boy Gospel offered Pringle a recording contract that would take his calling to the next plateau. The company pulled out all of the stops as the CD "Loyalty" featured vocal cameos by Tonex and Lexi. Aside from Pringle's production hand, other track producers included Roger Ryan (CeCe Winans), Derek DOA Allen (Smokie Norful), Percy Bady (Jennifer Holiday) and superstar artist/producer Fred Hammond.
