Bahamian born but now Los Angeles based R&B /Urban artist, Javen Campbell, now simply known as Javen, is a talent to be reckoned with. Javen is the classic example of a musician who has dynamic talents of a singer/songwriter, actor and independent producer. Building both his music and film careers on a foundation of integrity and individualized style has earned him critical praise and audience approval for both.
Javen quickly became no stranger to television. He landed a position as a co host of the "Paula White Show" on BET from 2001-2002. Javen has also been a frequent guest soloist and appears regularly on numerous networks including BET, TBN, FOX, NBC, CTN, DAYSTAR and more. Javen's impeccable stage presence led him to star in numerous productions. He was a lead in the theatrical production of A Raisin in the Sun. From 2002-2003 he starred in the off Broadway musical The Rock and the Rabbi. Slowly but steadily becoming a recognizable face in acting, Javen continued to earn parts in high-quality films. In 2005, he starred in the movie The Sixth and in 2006 he starred with Omar Sharif and Peter O'Toole in the feature film, One Night with the King. Javen currently has a leading role in the adopted screen play Mwen Sole'.
Javen may seem to the casual observer like a rare example of a musician successfully transitioning into an actor, but in truth, his acclaimed music career has always been his first love and remained at the forefront of his life. In 2002 Javen signed a record deal with Crowne/Word Records in Nashville, TN. His first single, "Never Give Up on Love" from the self-titled CD, Javen soared into the top 10 on the CCM radio charts. In 2003 he released his first independent CD, Change, through his production label JCM. Change was widely received on gospel radio nationwide. With a proven track record, Javen was recognized with numerous nominations from prestigious award platforms. In 2004 he was nominated for the Marlin Awards best Male Contemporary Solo, Male Artist, Song and Gospel performance of the year, of which he won 2 of the 4 award nominations.
Javen's new album, Keeping The Faith, scheduled to release September 30, 2008 is like no other, combining electrifying vocals and super charged instrumentations of heartfelt, passionate and soul searching vibes that words cannot express. This latest release features the talents of Integrity artist Israel Houghton, gospel recording artist Deitrick Haddon, Universal songwriter/producer Trevon Potts and industry favorite Peter Mokran .
Javen has consistently received rave reviews since stepping foot into the industry. Javen gained such an overwhelming response that he won the 2007 En Sound Music Award "Best Urban Soul Album of the Year." He also currently hosts his own one hour radio show, "LIFE" on Urban Network, with 6 million hits and a reach of over 250,000 listeners. Javen is an unstoppable artist with no plans of slowing down any day soon.
