BISHOP JOSEPH WALKER
Bishop Joseph Warren Walker, III holds a B. A. Degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA; a Masters of Divinity from Vanderbilt University in Nashville; and a Doctorate of Ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary. He currently serves as Bishop of Senior Pastors for Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International under the leadership of International Presiding Bishop Paul S. Morton.

Foremost, he is the pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Nashville, TN. Bishop Walker began his pastorate at Mount Zion in the spring of 1992 with 175 members. Presently, the ministry has grown to exceed 18,000 and continues to grow at a phenomenal rate of over 1,800 souls per year. Outreach Magazine identifies Mount Zion as the second fastest growing church in America. Under Bishop Walker’s leadership, Mount Zion’s ministry has expanded beyond its original location in the Historic Jefferson Street Corridor to seven weekly services in three locations. In the year 2001, the church completed a $17 million dollar, state-of-the-art ministry complex that seats 5,000. This second location is the first phase of a $60 million dollar, twelve-year building project. In December 2003, Mount Zion completed a third location in Antioch, TN. Named Mount Zion Plaza, this project consists of a $7 million dollar retail center and ministry complex. This now debt-free ministry complex serves as a multi-purpose facility that accommodates 2,000 at one sitting.

Bishop Walker has eight weekly television broadcasts and one daily radio ministry. These broadcasts air across the United States in Shreveport, LA; Baton Rouge, LA; Nashville, TN; and internationally on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) on which he is featured as a regular host and guest. Under Bishop Walker’s leadership, Mt. Zion’s Dove-nominated choir has recorded three albums entitled Worship in His Presence, Praise in His Presence, and Shout in the Spirit. Most recently, he was the visionary behind Mt. Zion's youth choir, Judah Generation, recording their debut album, Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III Presents Judah Generation, to be released by J3 Enterprises of which Bishop Walker is president.

Because Bishop Walker pledged never to abandon the neighborhood where Mt. Zion was founded, the New Level Community Development Corporation was founded in 2001 as a Mount Zion outreach ministry. Bishop Walker serves as vice-chairman of New Level CDC, which is committed to low-and moderate-income families and to community economic development.

Realizing that ministry expands beyond the edifice of the church, Bishop Walker founded non-profit J. W. Walker Ministries, which has awarded over $200,000 in college scholarship to deserving students. Scholarships are bequeathed to recipients in memory of the Late Dr. Diane Greer Walker who captured the hearts of Christian women worldwide for her service to Christ and to her husband’s ministry. Bishop Walker is also president and CEO of Exodus Productions, Inc.

As a community leader, Bishop Walker currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Nashville Housing Fund, the Nashville Vanderbilt Club, and the Nashville Electric Service. He is also Governor-appointed to the Tennessee Human Rights Commission and to the Ethics Panel, a citizens’ panel that reviews and provides recommendations on the issue of ethics in Tennessee government. Bishop Walker is recognized as one of Nashville’s 25 Most Influential African Americans and as one of Tennessee’s most powerful 100 citizens in the state for the year 2004. Truly, he is an anointed man of God.
