Some call her Michelle, others Michelle B but Jesus simply calls her daughter. Born February 1981 and reared in Brooklyn, New York. Michelle acquired a thirst for the undying love of God at an early age. With a Latin guitarist for a father who played for the “They and I Band” in the ‘60’s, music played a major role in her life.
We are taught that God loves the heart of a persevering worshipper because it shows faithfulness and commitment. Michelle is definitely a true worshipper of Jesus Christ. She was the youth worship leader at her home church The Bay Ridge Christian Center in Brooklyn for four years. There she assisted in the Youth In Effect ministry where she witnessed and encouraged fellow young adults. In her own words, “this is where my ministry began.”
She currently resides in Philadelphia Pennsylvania where she attends St. Mathews Baptist Church in Williamstown.
At the age of sixteen, while some of her friends engaged in alternative life choices, she made the decision to follow Christ. Although a Christian, Michelle was still uncertain as to her calling and exactly what gift God had given her. However, in January of 1997 God opened her eyes and showed her higher purpose. When you stay in the will of God, unimaginable blessings will become a way of life. That was so evident when attending a Holy Hip-Hop concert at her church in Brooklyn. Michelle met Lee Jerkins (President/CEO of Rock Soul Entertainment.) Over a period of a year Jerkins took time to get to know Michelle the person and was impressed with her dedication to live a Christ centered life. Jerkins saw a diamond in the rough and offered her the opportunity to be a part of a compilation project with the song entitled, "Faithful.” Soon after, other doors opened from ministering at Carnegie Hall in April 2002 to Yankee Stadium in May 2002.
Michelle studied Jazz at City University of New York under the leadership of accomplished jazz singer/songwriter, Sheila Jordan where she learned professional singing techniques. She has had the pleasure of ministering along side notables including Anointed, Crystal Lewis, Nicole Mullen, Out of Eden, Papa San, Benita Farmer, and numerous others. She is very grounded personally and proud of her Puerto Rican and Dominican heritage. Her fluency in Spanish provides her with more versatility to minister to those that may not speak or understand English well.
She has a golden heart that is geared towards uplifting young people and ministering to their inner soul. Her music speaks of an eternal love that is infinite and will not fade. “I want each song on this album to pertain to an attribute of God”, says the artist. People are inspired after hearing her minister because she beautifully paints a visual of the love Jesus has for all. From drug dealers to pregnant teens, there is a message in her song that will convict every willing heart.
God is just beginning a great work in Michelle and He will perform it until the day of Christ. Become inspired, uplifted and encouraged as God uses this vessel to win souls for His kingdom.
