PAUL OWENS & APC
Paul Owens and the A.P.C., who has shared the stage with such venerable artists as Kirk Franklin, Bobby Jones, Yolanda Adams, John P. Kee, Vicki Winans and more, captured the attention of executives at Rebel Hill Records / Lightyear earlier this year. Their first independent release, Joy in Jesus, received a tremendous response from radio and retailers along the east coast. The Philadelphia-based group hopes to follow the momentum of their first album with their new project, Comfort Me.

Comfort Me features the group’s polished sound, which blends the flavors of traditional and contemporary gospel along with urban stylings. The title track from the album is a reflection of Owens’ desire to reach out to people who are hurting and offer them a little hope.

“I sat down and came up with this song because of what was around me,” he says of “Comfort Me.” “I have been around people that have lost loved ones and that have been in abusive relationships. They have this void in their lives. I wrote the song because we have a God who comforts us.”

Formed by Owens in 1993, the A.P.C. began as a small ensemble in a church in Philadelphia. The group swelled to a choir of thirty members and began performing at churches and events in neighboring states. The release of Comfort Me is a milestone for the group, but is only one step in the vision that they have for their music. They hope that their music will reach many generations all around the world.
